Health Canada’s Consumer and Clinic Radiation Protection Bureau conducts scientific research into the biological effects of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation. When they required shielding solutions for their research facility in Ottawa they contacted the Ultraray Group.
To optimize space, Health Canada required a sliding door system with one fixed and one sliding door panel. Ultraray also provided a 36”H x 24”D x 60”L workstation with a solid core top.
Before beginning installation, Ultraray removed and disposed of all drywall on the back side of the wall opening. New drywall was installed to 84” height with a corner seam and union strips. The doorway opening was re-supported to accommodate the size and weight of the sliding door system. All switches and plugs were wrapped with 1/16th lead.
The sliding door system was designed in house and assembled onsite during operating hours. The panels are 36”x 84” and 48”x 48” lined with 1/16th lead. Each viewing panel features a 48” high lead glass viewing window. The install was quick, clean and took just 4 days.
This project is another example of Ultraray supporting the Canadian healthcare community. Ultraray Group Inc. is proud to supply its shielding solutions to Health Canada and we look forward to working together again in the future.
