Product overview

The L-Block shield is designed to support the safe receiving and preparation of unit doses containing high-energy radionuclides. The shield provides either 1.5 inch or 2 inch lead shielding in the front panel and 1 inch lead shielding in the base, helping reduce exposure during handling and preparation activities.

An integrated 8 inch by 8 inch by 4 inch lead glass window provides visibility while maintaining shielding at the operator’s viewing position. The base includes a specially designed plate with a hex-shaped recess, which facilitates one-handed loading and unloading of dose pigs that incorporate hex-shaped bottoms. This feature supports controlled and efficient workflow during dose preparation.

The unit ships in modular form to allow installation without lifting equipment. No individual component weighs more than 50 pounds. After placing the steel base frame in position, pre-cut lead sheets are loaded into the horizontal and vertical frame sections. The window module is then mounted, and final assembly is completed using four Phillips head screws. Only a Phillips screwdriver is required. Assembly instructions are included.

When additional lateral shielding is required, an optional lead brick cave can be added around the base perimeter. The L-Block shield is intended to be used as part of a broader radiation protection strategy and should be coordinated with surrounding shielding and workflow requirements.
