Product Overview

The MAVIG Hybrid Central Axis is a ceiling-mounted modular suspension system engineered for environments where the Portegra2 system's standard arm lengths cannot reach the required equipment positions. While the Portegra2 offers extension arms up to 950 mm, the Hybrid Central Axis provides extension arms from 1450 mm to 1750 mm, making it the appropriate choice when ceiling space is congested, when equipment must be kept outside a defined sterile zone, or when the procedure table layout places the working area at a distance that standard arms cannot bridge.

The system is built around a central ceiling column available in heights of 200 mm to 500 mm, enclosed by a 600 mm diameter cover plate. From this column, one or two extension arms extend outward, each terminated with a spring arm that carries the end device. The dual arm configuration supports an electrical arm for a surgical lamp and a non-electrical arm for a radiation protective shield or other device, both operating from a single ceiling penetration point. This makes the Hybrid Central Axis particularly suited to hybrid operating rooms, where ceiling infrastructure is shared between imaging, lighting, and protection systems and where available mounting points are limited.

Ceiling mounting is handled by one of three substructures: a variable-height suspended ceiling support for installations with 200 mm to 1000 mm of clearance between the structural and suspended ceiling (HZP01), a short suspended ceiling support for clearances up to 200 mm (HZP02), or a flat mounting plate for direct structural ceiling or Unistrut track installations (HZP03). All substructures include interface plates that allow minor alignment corrections on site without structural rework. The system is manufactured in Germany by MAVIG GmbH and is available in Canada through Ultraray, who can support room-specific configuration and custom component selection.
